Projects

In 2010, SODIS was active in 24 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. More than 300 000 households were trained last year in the SODIS method and hygiene. Between 40 and 50% of the trained people use the method to treat their drinking water. Thus, more than 750 000 people gained access to clean drinking water. In all, over 5 million people in about 30 countries now use the SODIS method to disinfect their drinking water every day.

The method is promoted in these countries by local partner organisations. This not only ensures that the training methods are adapted to local conditions, it is also more cost-effective.

Donations

SODIS uses donations effectively and efficiently for defined purposes. Since 2008, efforts have been concentrated more and more on spreading the SODIS method in Africa because that is where the need is greatest. This is why more funds were deliberately spent on this continent since 2008.
