Values & Mission

Clean drinking water is one of the most important necessities for a healthy life. 900 million people do not have access to this resource. The United Nations Organisation has declared that one of its objectives is to halve this number by 2015. We want to make a significant contribution to this objective with our work. We want to increase awareness and the use of the SODIS method significantly all over the world by 2015.

Our SODIS projects aim to help mainly the poorest people. Through our advocacy work, we want to convince other organisations and governments to increase their efforts to ensure that these people have access to clean drinking water.

We educate people according to the principle of "helping them to help themselves". With the SODIS method, we give them the ability to disinfect their water with local resources, so that they can drink it.

We think it is very important not to disadvantage any section of the community in our work. SODIS helps people regardless of their religion or ethnic background. In many countries, providing water is the responsibility of the women and children. Therefore, our projects often focus on women and children.

For the implementation of the project, we work with local partner organisations. With regular education and advanced training courses for the partner organisation's workers, we build up specialist knowledge in the countries that will remain even after the project is over.
