AngolaAngola
We started promoting the SODIS method in Angola in 2010 in collaboration with Joint Aid Management (JAM). Angola’s infrastructure is in a very bad condition because of the civil war that lasted till 2002. Many people lack access to safe drinking water. In the ongoing pilot phase, the trainings in the SODIS method focus on the people in the province of Benguela, where JAM has been implementing projects for several years. Until 2011, the project will train at least 1300 families in the application of the SODIS method and hygiene practices. The project will thus provide an option to produce safe drinking water to about 6500 people. To train the households, promoters visit the families in their homes. In addition, the project team organizes events in schools and in the communities to inform a large public about the SODIS method. In order to achieve a long-term dissemination and application of the SODIS method, we conduct all activities in partnership with the local parent-teacher associations. |
